SUN ’ S JOE DIAMOND WINS „ ^uAMDinNKHIP CHAMPIONSH AT 1968 INDIO HORSE SHOW
The 1968 Indio Horse Show attracted a total of 62
Walking Horses . The judge was Mr . James K . Kagsaaie of Miami , Fla ., who tied the Walking Horse classes to ine satisfaction of most of the spectators . Several of the had exciting work-offs , particularly the 8500.00 Stak ‘ on Sunday . There were three work-offs ; the final one between the 2 top horses , Mr . & Mrs . Donald Smith s b striding bay “ Sun ’ s Joe Diamond ” with Johnny Dum P and Jean McBurney ’ s beautiful new mare " Sun i- . u ? Lacy ” with Ray Rhoads riding . The two horses were givi b their all and were thrilling to watch as they walked up a real storm but the dainty mare finally ran out of gas witn Joe Diamond still going strong even though he had to stop twice to pick up a boot . Sun ’ s Joe Diamond and Johnny Gunn were the proud recipient of the blue and Sun Dust s Lacy was reserve champion . Below are the complete results
