JOHN BOWERS PASSES The nation’s horse show enthusiasts will mourn the passing of Mr. John L. Bowers, well-known national figure in the horse world. John and his wife Ruth were known throughout the country as tops in the show management field. From Destin, Florida, Mr. Bowers passed away Sunday night, September 10, while talking over the phone to Mr. H. O. Davis of Montgomery, Alabama, regarding the Southern Championship horse show which Mr. Bowers has managed for many years. Both exhibitors and spectators enjoyed a Bowers show. Everything was handled in a smooth manner with maximum emphasis being placed on the con venience of the exhibitors. John had a keen under standing of the needs of horsemen at a horse show and made every effort to make their participation pleasant and rewarding. Mr. and Mrs. Bowers managed numerous shows. Some of the better-known shows that were established and managed by the Bowers team were: Sedgefield, N. C.; Greensboro, N. C.; High Point, N. C.; Blowing Rock, N. C.; Winston-Salem, N. C.; Atlanta, Ga.; Mi ami, Fla.; Gainesville, Fla.; Tampa, Fla.; New Orleans, La.; Mobile, Ala; Montgomery, Ala.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Knoxville, Tenn.; Memphis, Tenn.; German town, Tenn.; Little Rock, Ark.; San Antonio, Texas and Beaumont, Texas. John is survived by his wife Ruth. Burial was in Destin, Florida at 10 AM, September 13. The Horse Show world will certainly miss the cheery smile and hearty handshake of John Bowers.
