very well this year. The other is TEXAS GAL, who won her class at Walnut Grove. In foal to TRIPLE THREAT, she will be shown at the Missouri State Fair and retired after the fair. She has been an out- standing mare and has won many championships. Also in training is a three-year-old black stallion, VOW’S SENSATION by MIDNIGHT VOW, owned by Henry Klonnsterman of Omaha. Shown several times this year, he has done well in all his classes. Another Klonnsterman horse is POOLS SUNLIGHT, a five-year-old gelding by MIGHTY SUN’S MAN. Al though he hasn’t shown much, he’s done very well when he has shown. High Haven is also starting some coming two-year- olds by MERRY MIDNIGHT AIRE that show good promise. We’ll be looking for them! CARROLL STABLES A new major Walking Horse training and breeding operation is taking shape in Fayetteville, Tennessee. Mr. Marvin Carroll of Huntsville recently announced plans for construction of a new training stable to be managed by Mr. Don Bell, well-known Alabama Walk ing Horse trainer. Mr. Bell recently moved from Boaz, Alabama, where he has been training for the past two years for Cooley Stables, to Fayetteville, and is currently occupying the Oakwood Acres Stables. Mr. Carroll is in the process of purchasing property and is working on plans for the new training facility. Long-range plans call for completion of the stable by early spring. Horses are already in training with Mr. Bell and several top yearlings have been promised as soon as he is able to take them. It was also noted that, if at all possible, a top stal lion wjould be obtained for service at Carroll Stables. More information will be released as progress is made. WALLACE BRANDON STABLES Wallace and Laura Lou Brandon are justly proud of the completion of their new training stables located in Triune, Tennessee, on the Franklin Highway. The new stable is situated in a beautiful rolling setting with hills in the background, and the farm property is called Hickory Hill Farms. Stable colors are black and white and the whole facility is as pretty as can be. The stable is very serviceable, with twenty-four box stalls, a large indoor riding hall and all the facil ities necessary for training both gaited and Walking Horses. Heading the list of top stock currently in the barn are MINT JULEP, a top Ladies Amateur mare rid den by Laura Lou, and MONEYTREE’S SHADOW, a champion aged gelding being shown by Wallace. We recently learned that Mr. Brandon had purchased MY SECRET SUN, a really fine aged gelding, from Jim Babb, and we should be hearing a lot about this horse in this part of the country. In discussing their operation, Mrs. Brandon stated that they were going to be selective with all their stock, and planned to take in fewer outside horses and give the best service possible. More about the Hickory Hill Farms and the Wallace Brandon Stables later. 24 FOR SALE Beautiful seven-year-old black mare by GO BOY’S SHADOW. FASHION TWO-TWENTY” SAD NOTE AT CELEBRATION The sudden death of MR. FASHION TWO-TWENTY, a fine six-year-old stallion owned by Mr. V. G. "Red” Gochneaur, occurred Tuesday night just before the Amateur Stallion and Gelding Class. He was in the work ring in front of the Fashion Two-Twenty stables when he succumbed to a ruptured aorta and internal hemorrhaging. Mr. Gochneaur was to show the horse in the next class. Originally named OUR MIDNIGHT SUN, MR. FASH ION TWO-TWENTY was re-named two years ago when he was purchased by the Fashion Two-Twenty Cos metic Company. He won the F lorida Circuit the last two years, and had won this year at Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio. The last show he made was the "Little Celebration” at Kalamazoo, Michigan, where he won the Stallion and Gelding class. Mr. Gochneaur purchased SUN’S SOCIETY, a four- year-old stud, from Mr. R. D. Keene, Orlando, Florida while at the Celebration. This horse, ridden by Preach Fleming, placed tenth in the Four-Year-Old Walking Stallion class on Wednesday night. His name will be changed to MR. FASHION TWO-TWENTY also. We offer our sympathy to Mr. Gochneaur for the loss of his fine stallion, and our congratulations on the purchase of a good prospect NOW AVAILABLE! The MACK MOTES Bit.
