In the month of March of the year 1943 a beautiful chestnut colt was foaled. Little did he know that he was destined to become one of the greatest Walking horse sires that ever lived. PRIDE OF PANOLA was bred by he late J. S. Wood of Sardis, Mississippi, in Panola Countv. SIR MAU GRAY by WILSON’S ALLEN was PRIDE’S sire and his dam was MISSISSIPPI SWEATHEART by YEAR- ICK’S BOURBON KING by HUNTER’S ALLEN F-10. In 1944 PRIDE was sold to E. L. McGhee, Port Gib­ son, Mississippi, and was moved to his new home. When PRIDE was a coming two-year-old Mr. McGhee let Mr. B. W. Pettway start him.
