To Acquire Rodgers Perfection
1959 World’s Grand Champion
Moves to Tennessee
SHELBYVILLE, TENNESSEE — June 20 — In an
exclusive telephone release to the VOICE, it was learned
only a short time after all negotiations were final that
RODGERS PERFECTION, the popular 1959 World’s
Grand Champion Tennessee Walking Horse, had been
purchased from the Porter Rodgers’ Stables in Searcy,
JULY, 1967
Arkansas, by Mr. Larry Gribble of McMinnville, Ten
nessee and Mr. Vic Thompson of Shelbyville. The horse
reportedly will stand at Thompson’s Stables with Larry
Gribble acting as stud manager.
It is a known fact that Mr. Gribble, a young man
with an established reputation in the horse business, has
been actively trying to purchase the big black twelve-year-
old stud for several years. In joining with Mr. Thompson,
they combine to form one of the finest breeding and pro
motion teams in the business.
In our discussion with Dr. Porter Rodgers, Jr., shortly
after the horse left Searcy, we learned that they had been
offered what they considered to be “a price that was just
