Fairway Walking Horse Stables
Vcrd Walker recently sent us a note regaiding his
activity and we learned that he has horses with seveia trainers as well as some fine mares at home in Concoi .. California . He commented that Joe Webb showed ns MARK OF PERFECTION at Shreveport . La . and tied reserve in a fine class . He also has PERFECTION S G
LAD at the Joe Webb Stables .
On the west coast . Verd ’ s horses arc in training with J . D . Landers in Sacramento . Speaking of Sacramento , he remarked that our results of the May 14th show in the capital city stated that a horse named WALKER S PER FECTION was tied third in the Pleasure Class . This was NOT his fine stallion as he was not shown there . More on the Fairway Stables later .
Tom Haley Stables
A relatively unknown trainer named Tom Haley is shaking up a lot of people lately with a colt named DELIGHT ’ S MIGHTY MAN . Tom is an amateur but he shows this fancy dark roan like a pro . This colt sold at Harlinsdale for $ 650.00 , and Tom purchased him and took him to Goodlettsville , where he broke and started him in the late fall . So far this year he has done well including tying reserve at the P . T . A . Show in Shelbyville . DELIGHT ’ S MIGHTY MAN is owned jointly by Tom Halcv and Charlie Williamson of Brentwood . He is by SUN ’ S DELIGHT and is out of LADY GALE . Fine breeding to say the least .
Charles Martin Stables
Charles Martin Stables in Murfreesboro is in full swing these days . Charlie ’ s busy working horses and Angie
is handling the office affairs , so as usual they have a good team going . The big news at their stables is the fouryear-old mare owned by James Rowland , Fred Jones and Charles Martin , all of Murfreesboro . Her name ROCK- A-BY-LADY and when she enters the ring all the horsemen sit up and take notice . She ’ s “ that ” kind of mare and to prove this statement , she has been shown three times to the blue . The shows were Manchester , Columbia Spring Jubilee and The Tennessee State Show in Nashville .
Some of the other stock that Charles Martin has ready to show are : a three-year-old red bay stallion owned by William Pointer of Townsend , Tennessee ; a two-year-old stallion by EBONY MASTERPIECE owned by one of their regular customers , Mr . H . G . French , Barnhill , Illinois ; a SUN ’ S DELIGHT two-year-old colt by the name , THE DELIGHT for Mr . H . B . Bell , Huntington , West Virginia ; and a two-year-old SUN ’ S DELIGHT stallion for Mr . Harlin Hayes of Franklin . Another good one is a four-year-old bay stallion owned by Mr . E . H . McFarlin and Fred Jones of Murfreesboro .
Young Larry Martin can be seen in shows this year on a five-year-old black mare pony for Mrs . Lee Sims
Rockton , Illinois . He has been winning first and second place ribbons all season on ECHO ’ S LITTLE MAN a Walking Pony owned by himself and his brother Danny Martin . y
An item of interest from Martin Stable^ is EBONY ’ S LUCKY LINDA . This filly is the first that the well , known BELOVED BELINDA foaled two years ago She ’ s owned by Gene Wild , Sarcoxie , Missouri ,' also the owner of BELINDA . This is the little filly that stood outside the Celebration ring two years ago when Charles showed

Sharon is currently working a three-year-old sorrel SUN DUST mare , and will show her soon . She is a top mare She is also working a chestnut two-year-old stud by EBONY MASTEPIECE that shows great promise as well as her roan aged mare by MERRY GO BOYthe gelding STORM WARNING ; and the two black studs . All this plus summer school keeps her busy .
SHADOW ’ S REPLICA won the stud and gelding class at Blue Mountain , Miss . We have not shown him much because of a heavy breeding piogiam . His colts are beautiful , with excellent conformation . Lo McDaniels , Millington , Tenn ., has a yearling colt by REPLICA that he says is the BEST colt he has ever had — and he breeds to all the top studs . He is sending us eight mares to breed . He has bred top colts for years , so we are very proud .
Sharon showed PAINTED BLACK , her yearling stud colt by SHADOW ’ S REPLICA , and won a large colt class at the Okolona , Miss , show recently . He is one of the nicest colts I ’ ve ever seen .
