NEWS! will conduct an auction sale featuring only TENNESSEE Way Down South by Janie Bramlett Hello again from Way Down South. With the arrival of a new year always comes a question from horse en thusiasts. “What kind of new show stock will we be see- this season?” From the reports I’ve received, this year should prove to be better than ever! The two-year-old classes should be hotter than ever this season. It seems that every trainer has at least one colt or filly that they’re es pecially proud of. This past week I paid a visit to the Russell Pate Stables in Rossville. Tennessee. Russell was busy working some of his fifteen two-year-olds. The Russell Pate-Billy Hale combination that proved so successful last season may well be set for a repeat performance this season. Billy has a real good black EBONY MASTERPIECE stud colt in training with Russell. This colt is a full brother to EBONY’S BLACK LADY, and from his looks he could well prove, to be one of the top colts out this season. Mr. D. D. Dickey of Covington, Tennessee, also has a fine two-year-old black EBONY stud with Russell. This colt is ready for the gates to open, and he’s really going places. Dr. R. W. Ratton has a fine black MIDNIGHT SUN filly that has turned out to be Russell’s top filly. There is little doubt that once again this year Russell will be show ing some top two-year-old stock. I was glad to run into an old friend, Mr. F. L. Dun ham of Ripley, Mississippi, and find out some information about his show stock for this season. Mr. Dunham was quite excited about a black two-year-old stud that he and Mr. Henderson of Blue Mountain, Mississippi own. This colt is sired by MIDNIGHT SUN out of an old MERRY BOY mare. With performance to match breeding like that you can hardly blame him for being excited! Mr. Dunham also owns the mare, JET’S MODEL MISS, that Dickie Pate showed so successfully last season. This mare is now four-years-old and after a well earned winter’s rest, she is better than ever. 24 1MSC1I6 WORSES MARCH 20-21, 1967 in Lexington, Kentucky We have choice consignments from the nation's leading trainers You’ll get to bid and buy horses consigned by the “makers of champions” . . . such men as Sam Paschal, Donald Paschal, Vic Thompson, C.
