A & B WALKING HORSE SALE HOLDS FIRST AUCTION IN COOKEVILLE
The first A & B Walking Horse Sale was held in Cookeville , Tennessee on November 16-17 . Owners
T . L . Adcock , McMinnville ; Elmore Brock , Sparta ; S . W . Beech , Jr ., Lewisburg ; and Pete Yokley , Pulaski , are all well know in the Walking Horse business and their sale went as they had expected for the
first adventure . The auction was held in a covered sales arena with ample stalls and parking facilities for the public . Auctioneers Eddie Bryant and Pete Yokley did their usual good jobs in the auction booth , keeping the sellers and buyers alert . The ringmen were Gary White , Joe Van Clayton and Johnny Jones . There were 100 horses listed in their catalog , but around 150 horses were run through the sale . Mr .
Brock and Mr . Adcock both observed that the horses were bringing about what they had expected . The presence of many Walking Horse trainers showed the interest that this new sale had created .
One of the interesting notes was a buyer that has
been attending most of the horse sales in this area . Mr . R . B . Hickey of the L & N Livestock Company
in Chattanooga , Tennessee has been one of the biggest buyers at all auctions . He purchased 57 head at the recent Murray Farm Sale and was by far the
biggest buyer at the A & B Sale . All of the horses that he buys at auction are carried to Chattanooga
and resold , either by private sale or in the weekly Thursday night auction . The auctioneers are always glad to see Mr . Hickey attending one of their sales , because they know that he comes to buy . There are plans at present to hold a Spring Sale in Cookevile next year . We wish them much success in their future ventures .
