Horace Young Stables
One of the better known stables around . Middle Tennessee is the Horace Young Stable in Lewisburg . Going into the Celebration this year , Horace will have GO BOY ’ S DARK LADY , last year ’ s three-year-old mare World Champion . Owned by Tony Huber of Moultrie , Georgia , she is undefeated this year in four-year-old and aged mare classes , such as Lebanon , Lewisburg , Eaglesville and Knoxville . A top contender again this year . Another winner for Tony Huber that has been undefeated in amateur and stud classes this year is his grey gelding , GO BOY ’ S CRYSTAL BALL , a gelding with three distinct gaits and a lot of head motion . Horace won the
Knoxville stake with this horse .
Dr . Helen Jones of Fayetteville has been showing LIL ’ S MAJOR some this year . She and Dr . Bill Jones also have a HANDSHAKER three-year-old mare that is a tremendous prospect , and a pony that their children will probably be showing next year . The BROWN BOMBER , a two-year-old bay stud , has been doing well in the twoyear-old classes this year . This one is owned by Sheriff
Cawley of Fitzgerald , Georgia .
GO BOY ’ S JUBILEE , a grey gelding shown by Karene Witcher of Monroe , Georgia , and MOONSHOT , owned bv Wanda Stewart of Fayetteville have both been tying well this summer in the juvenile classes . Another one that Horace has just had for a short time is SETTING SUN ’ S LITTLE ANGEL , ridden by Beth Rambo and owned by Mr . and Mrs . Bud Rambo of Fayetteville . She shows in pony classes . Watch for the Horace Young Stables at the Celebration and go by to see Maribelle and Horace , you ’ ll be most welcome .
Elmore Brock Stables
Headed for the Celebration this year from the Elmore Brock Stables will be the usual top string of horses . A top two-year-old that all the horsemen have been talking about is a SUN ’ S DELIGHT stallion , named DOUBLE DELIGHT . This one has been winning blues consistently and is owned by Lowe , Lowe and Ellis from Cookeville , Tennessee and Greensboro , North Carolina . In some of the other classes Elmore will have DEEP VELVET , now an aged mare owned by Mr . and Mrs . Willard Chandler , Portland , Tennessee . This mare needs no introduction to the show world , she ’ s one of the good ones . In the aged stud class Elmore will be showing MR . GLO , another horse that needs no introduction . Elmore has won manv , many good shows with both of these horses . In the Walking Pony division Susan Hunter of Sparta , Tennessee will be showing ZIP CODE . Another well-known is SENOR PERFECTION owned by Gribble , Gribble , Lowe and Lowe . This stud will be in the three-year-old class this year . As you can see by the list of the above names . Mr . Green-Livingstone Stables
A month or two ago we had a note in the VOICE about George Livingstone joining forces with Toby Green in Shclbyviilc . These two men are already making a good team and their stable is now overflowing with a lot of good horses . Just in the short time they have been together , they arc making great progress . They have So many horses that we hope we get them all listed right In the two-year-old division — a chestnut SUN ’ S DE­ LIGHT colt that will be shown in the futurity , owned by C . H . Bell , Huntington , W . Virginia . A black SUN ’ S DELIGHT filly owned by Dr . Raymond Newman 0f Evansville , Indiana . Dr . Newman also owns a top threevear-old gelding by GOLD SHADOW . Toby and George own a full sister to MIGHTY SUNBEAM , another twoyear-old that is making a top mare . A good PIN-UP filly owned by Toby and Mi . D . F . Mai shall of Ipava , Illinois
is on the show string . Mr . Joe Davis of Shelbyville has a two-year-old stald tremendous three-vear-old blue stallion
George said they have a dark horse — a two-year-old , that won the Woodbury show . He ’ s a bay stallion . That is all we know — maybe George can tell us more later .
Sam Lassiter and Donald Baggerly own SUN ’ S SHAD­ OW , a top big time MIDNIGHT SUN three-year-old stud . Another three-year-old belongs to Lloyd Patterson , Easley , South Carolina . A top horse with natural ability .
They have so many four-year-olds getting ready to show , we ’ ll just list them and when George rides into the ring , the progress this team is making will speak for itself .
GUNSMOKE ’ S MINUTE MAN is a well-known show entry owned by R . H . Bowman & Son , Shelbyville . His action will speak louder than anything we can say . Mr . Bailey Evans and Mr . Hugh Naron have a four-year-old by MIDNIGHT VICTORY . Mr . Dean Marshall , Ipava , Illinois , has a four-year-old black stallion that is doing great and Dr . Bob Womack owns a four-year-old PIN-UP roan mare .
In aged classes MR . MAGIC owned by George Holmes , Chardon , Ohio and MR . ELECTRA 225 , a fiveyear-old bay owned by Mr . and Mrs . Tom Gorsuch will be a top contender for gelding class at the Celebration .
On the “ for sale ” list , Toby and George have several that will make good amateur mounts . For instance a fouryear-old SUNDUST mare , a walking pony , MR . MIS­ CHIEF , and GO BOY ’ S MOTION MAN '.
As the months roll by we may see a very successful team in operation . Stop by and see them some time you ’ ll be most welcome .
Circle Four Stables
E . M . Shivers , who has been at Circle Four Stables Cedartown , Georgia , since just after the Celebration last year , is putting the finishing touches on his 1967 Celebration horses , and they seem to be ready to take on a comers .
A beautiful blue roan filly , EBONY ’ S BLUE VEL­ VET , is heading for the Two-Year-Old Championship , and is favored to win it by many who have seen her * She has two smooth , well-balanced gaits that have ta ' en her to the blue seven times in seven shows .
SOCIETY ’ S LITTLE MAN , 1966 Reserve Three-
Year-Old Gelding , is going back to Shelbyville to try oi the blue in the Four-Year-Old Gelding Class with E . M * Shivers up , and the Ladies Amateur class with Pau inc Wiener Rentz in the irons .
