Shelbyville, Tennessee—the recognized birthplace of
the modern Tennessee Walking Horse, show horse su
preme, king of equines, the world’s greatest pleasure
horse. Located in Shelbyville, the cradle of the breed,
are the grounds of the Tennessee Walking Horse National
Celebration. It is here that the World’s Champions of
the breed are crowned and it is here that Tennessee Walk
ing Horse enthusiasts from the world over congregate
every year during the last week of August to see the
“greatest show on earth” for Walking Horses.
