NAMES OFFICERS FOR 1967 ;
AWARDS HIGH POINT HONORS
The Texas Walking Horse Breeders Association elected officers at a recent meeting in Tyler . Texas . Officers for the year are Tom Clay , president ; Pat Bovd . vice president ; Sandy Bush , treasurer ; and Johnny Almond . Joe Williams , John Sharp , and A . C . McKinney , members of the board of directors .
Awards were presented to the high point winners for the past year to the following : Mare class — Tom Clay ; Amateur Mare — Dr . Byron Landress ; Ladies Class — Miss Wayne Davis ; Juvenile ( 13 and under ) — Marcia Wade ; Juvenile ( 14 and over ) — Peggy Wade ; Three year old — C . C . Williams ; Junior Horse — Tom Clay ; Two year old — G . W . “ Dub ” Ivins ; Equitation — Gene Hayle ; Gelding — Grace Steer ; Stallion — O . Lathrop .
The Texas Walking Horse Breeders Association will award trophies to the top Texas Association horse in each class at the Texas Championship Show to be held at Gladewater on August 11 and 12 .
Dr . Byron Landress is already working on the Texas Futurity to be held in October in conjunction with the State Fair . The Association had a good futurity in 1966 and at present the 1967 show looks even better . The deadline for nominating mares and stallions is May 15 . The fee is $ 25 for the stallion , and $ 10 for the mare , and $ 10 for the colt .
Jimmy Richardson ' s Father Passes
Horse Show organist Jimmy Richardson suffered another personal loss this past month with the death of his father March 5 . Thomas Minor Richardson passed away six weeks after his wife , Jimmy ’ s mother .
We wish to extend our deepest condolences to Jimmy on behalf of all his many fans all over the show horse world .

“ Preach ” Fleming To Judge Greater Cincinnati Horse Show
The Walking Horse judge for the 1967 Greater Cincinnati Horse Show will be H . H . “ Preach ” Fleming of Orlando , Florida . Mr . Fleming will judge the Walking Horse classes of the show which is scheduled for May 4-7 at the Cincinnati Gardens .
More than 600 entries are expected to traverse the show ring in competion for $ 15,000 prize money during the event presented for the benefit of the Southwestern Ohio Kiwanis Mental Health Program . Profits from the 1967 Horse Show will be used for the Children ’ s Unit School for mentally disturbed children at Longview State Hospital in Cincinnati .
The ringmaster will be Alphonse Delarbe of Cincinnati and the stewards will be Xavier B . Haynie , Milton , Kentucky , and Col . Raymond Strasburger , New Albany , Ohio .
