Slate College,
Jeff coat Stables of Cordova, Tennessee, has a bam
full of good horses this year, as most readers have al
ready seen by now. Awhile back I received a very lovely
letter from Mrs. Marie Jeffcoat telling me about their
show horses, brood mares, colts, and stallions. Jeffcoat
Stables is very lucky to have as a trainer the young and
talented Neil Robinson. Neil has done an outstanding
job with all of the horses and I could tell by Mrs.
Jeffcoat’s letter how proud they are of him. SUN’S
STRADIVARIUS is the sensational two year old stallion
who has won so many blues this summer and caused so
much talk. STRADIVARIUS is a large black colt with a
bold way of going and lots of speed to spare. I have
watched this colt all summer and he just keeps getting
better and better. MIDNIGHT MONA LISA is a jet
black three year old mare who has won her share of the
blues this season, too. MONA LISA is destined for a
great future under Neil’s expert guidance. Neil is work
ing a real nice four year old bav mare named MAGIC’S
PRINCESS. PRINCESS is by SUN’S BLACK MAGIC
LM and shows a lot of promise. Jeffcoat Stables has
approximately 100 head of mares, weanlings, yearlings,
and stallions besides the show horses. The Jeff coats extend
an open invitation for visitors at all times.
Young Randall Saxton of Clinton, Mississippi, has
a top juvenile mare he is real proud of. Her name is
JUNE JOY—a chestnut roan six year old mare. Ran
dall has shown JUNE JOY quite a bit and has always
tied high. They are top contenders in all juvenile classes.
We recently made a quick trip to Tennessee and
stopped by several bams to see horses work. There are
far too many to write up in this one column, so I’ll save
some of the information for later. One of the stables
we visited was Vic Thompson’s in Shelbyville. He has
really got a lot of top horses working under the capable
hands of Mack Motes.
PAINTED BLACK is the name of my young black
stallion by SHADOW’S REPLICA. He looks exactly
like his sire and I think he is quite a colt. I want to
extend an open invitation for everyone to come by at
any time and see our stallions, mare, and our crop of
Shadow’s Replica colts.
This year please address all letters to Cleveland, as
I will be attending Delta State for my final year of Pre-
Vet before going to Auburn University.
