BAILEY-MONTGOMERY STABLES Stand 2 of Nation ’ s Top Sires !

In a recent conversation with Mr . JACK MONT GOMERY , General Manager of Bailey-Montgomery Stables in Shelbyville , Tennessee , we learned that their stallions , Go Boy ’ s Shadow and Piddley , experienced record seasons at stud in 1965 . Discussing the various reasons for their continued popularity , Mr . Montgomery " pointed out that these two horses have ' Just about everything that a breeder wants .” Pulling Shadow out of his stall for our personal inspection , a task which he is asked to do for many , many visitors to their stable , Jack called attention to the big black stud ’ s conformation . Mentioning his massive neck , unusually large and intelligent eyes , short back and powerful back-end , Jack parked him for us and proudly asked if anyone could fault him .

" Shadow ,” Jack stated , " was the 1955 and 1956 World ’ s Grand Champion . Many people have said that he was one of the few horses ever to win this crown that was virtually in a class by himself .” As for Shadow ’ s blood lines , Jack takes a great deal of pride in the fact that he is a double grandson of the incomparable Merry Boy . He is by Merry Go Boy out of Merry Walker , and has about as much depth of great blood as any major
COME UP , HORSE — Making a good pass across the hill , Jack shows the caliber of horses that Shadow is capable of producing . This three-year-old black stallion was not shown as a two-year-old . He has attracted a lot of attention thus far this year and could be one of the top three-year-olds of 1966 .
