DUKE OF DELINA FOALED MARCH 18, 1955 DIED JUNE 1, 1966 DUKE OF DELINA - KIM LOVETTE UP UKE OF DELINA, one of the South's most loved and well-known Tennessee Walking Horses, met sud­ D den death June 1, 1966. The cause of his death was a twisted intestine. He was sired by Delina Bay and his dam was Byron’s Lady, and he was foaled March 18, 1955. As a colt Duke was owned by Mrs. Mabel M. Gamier of Bastrop, Louisiana. During his first few years of life he was trained by Mr Percy Moss, the trainer of World's Champion Walking Horse White Star. He was then sold to Mr Thomas L. Gorsuch of Waynesboro, Virginia, and his new trainer was Mr. David Welsh. David showed this powerful gelding in the 1962 World's Celebration and was placed eighth in the Gelding Class. Mrs. Gorsuch placed eighth on Duke in the Ladies' Gelding Class at the Celebration in 1962. In November, 1963, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hubbard of Sanford, North Carolina, purchased Duke for their daugh- ter, In Margaret 1964 Duke and Margaret collected 13 blues.
