Big news at the GLL Farms Stables is the recem purchase of HILL ’ S PERFECTION by Mr . and M « j Rex Lovette of Wilkesboro , N . C . . K ®, who did so well on her DUKE OF DELINA ( he died June 1st )
will be a real solid contender in Juvenile classes o truly great horse . PERFECTION will remain at the OLD stables with Charlie until after the Celebration . All reports are that Kim is doing well on . him so watchi out boys and girls ! Kim also has JUNE DIAMO at GLL Stables . This horse was the 2 Year Old and 5
Year Old Champion of North Carolina and is still a top horse in Juvenile Classes . ,
How about CARBON COPY ? He is reported to be in great shape after a very successful year as the hghest priced stallion now standing at stud in the Walking Horse business . His colts are exceptional by all reports and he consistantly is getting blacks and bays predominantly .
He is still a great horse under saddle also ! We also just learned that Mrs . Laidlaw , the most
popular Secretary in the Walking Horse business , has just purchased SHADOW ’ S DARK LADY , a fine mare , from Joe Webb . She wall show this five year old Mare in
Ladies Amateur Classes this year .
VIC THOMPSON STABLES
Trainer Mackv Motes is doing a creditable job working with Vic and his string of top horses this year . Leading the way is , of course , THE UNTOUCHABLE , the mare shown to perfection by Judy Tillett of Shelbyville . They also have “ O ’ ’ Toughy ” . . . shown as CONFEDERATE RAIDER by Mrs . Shirley Schliecher . The biggest news to hit Middle Tennessee , however was the recent purchase and sale of MOONGLOW ’ S JR . . . Vic bought this horse from James K . Taylor and turned right around and immediately sold him to the Daugettes of Atalla , Alabama . Vic took him to the horse show in Atalla and really put on a show to win the blue and defeat some of the most highly rated stock around .
Vic has had a most successful year with his Stallion Stables Breeding operation this year . He and manager Ed Ezell have had their hands full breeding SUNDUST GO BOY ’ S INVASION and GORDON ’ S MERRY BOY , three of the best blooded horses in the business . Vic was one of the few major breeders who held his stud fees “ on the line ’’ when the decision was made by the Breeders Association to limit the number of colts that could be registered to a given stud . He made a lot of friends on that deal !
We met some fine folks from Salt Lake City , Utah at Vic s barn last month . The L . B . Green family had made the mp to his barn ( they told me that they had seen Vic s ad in the VOICE ) to buy some horses . They took
good ones : a two yw old filly named SUN- DUST SUNBEAM and a Walking Pony named MINGO ,
lney already have a yearling colt by MIDNIGHT ACE an , d are ,. P1tn ?. ing t0 WOrk with aI1 of ‘ hose horses themselves . With Ronnie , 16 years old , Lucille , 18 years old C . ckie , 14 years old and Larry , 10 years old , they should ha- cno , ugh ’“ nds ln the family to put in plenty of time in the saddle . Hope to see the Greens in Middle Tennessee again soon .
