about. And she was certainly worthy of everything that he had said about her. Mr. JIMMY FAULKNER of Oxford owns this fine bay filly and he really has one that he can be proud of. No wonder he’s been so anxious for show season to start . . . with a filly like her, there’s reason to want to show her off! Well, folks, that’s all for this month. Let me remind all of you with any horsey information to please write and tell me about it. This is your column, so get busy and help me keep it filled! Next month I’ll report on the annual Mid-South Association meeting in Jackson, Tennessee, and on one of the annual highlights of the year— the GLL Barnwarming. ^ STATE of ALABAMA HORSEMEN’S ASSOCIATION ANNUAL AWARDS, WALKING HORSE DIVISION WAY DOWN SOUTH by Janie Bramlett Box 252 Oxford, Mississippi Well, winter may have set in Way Down South, but it certainly hasn’t stopped any of our horse trainers from producing some top stock. With everyone rav ing about their fine two-year-olds, those two-year-old classes should really be something this summer. I paid a visit to the Pate Brothers Stable recently and arrived early enough to see DICKIE and RUS SELL w7ork a few of their top two-year-olds. Dickie is working a top two-year-old bay stud belonging to Mr. FRED FOWLER that is really causing quite a sensation. This colt is just ready and waiting for the gate to open and is strictly big-time bound. Mr. Fred has two other top Ebony colts with Dickie and Rus sell and all of them have the makings of top colts. Mr. T. W. BOWLING has an Ebony filly and an Ebony stud that are really going to bring him in some rib bons. A big price has already been turned down for the filly, aqd the sorrel stud, Ebony’s Old Crow, may be small in size, but when he gets that saddle on he is strictly all show horse from the word "go.” CON GRESSMAN HAYES of Ohio has a fine Ebony stud that is pretty as a picture and has the makings of a great two-year-old. Mr. and Mrs. FRANK PARNELL have a roan two-year-old stud by Pride of Panola, Pride’s Hot Toddy, that should bring in some trophies to add to the Parnells’ well-stocked case. Needless to say, both Dickie and Russell are proud of their two-year-old stock, and who could blame them. Miss FLO FALKNER has just recently moved her top amateur stud, Shadow’s Shadrack, to those Pate boys. It was Russell who made this top horse, and many of us remember Russell showing this great little horse to win blue after blue. I’m sure Flo and Shadrack are ready to start another equally successful season. I managed to postpone studying for exams long enough to go out to the Stewart Stables and see a two-year-old filly that BOBBY has been telling me 16 WALKING PONIES: (1) Go Boy’s Little Trouble, Debbie Snow up for Lakeview Stables, Tuscaloosa; (2) Go Boy’s Little Shadow, owner-rider Ben Beckham, Birmingham; (3) Sir Henry’s Masterpiece, Ann Dau- gette up for Col.
