1966-Voice Of The Tennessee Walking Horse 1966 April Voice RS | Page 30

D. DAVID REEDER has a nice pleasure horse, Gentleman Jim, that belonged to the TILLETS of Shelbyville, Tennessee, and was shown by JUDY Til- let before she got her Untouchable mare. ON THE MASON-DIXON LINE by Janey Sawyer 6161 S. Dixie Highway Franklin, Ohio During the middle of February we had two new colts, by Shadow and Ebony Masterpiece, born to our brood mares. It sure makes us aware that, as spring approaches, life begins again and so starts another season in the Walking Horse world. The latest news from Mrs. P. F. GOOD, Good Acres, Athens, Ohio, is that their trainer, JACK GILKEY, has his hands full with some top prospects for the coming show season. Of course, Go Boy’s Rock 'n Roll is still the king at Good Acres and is throwing some nice colts. Go Merry Wilson, a three-year-old sorrel mare, is one of his first colts. She is really a show horse and one to watch this year. Go Boy’s Rock’n Doll, another of his colts, is a pretty sorrel mare that Mrs. Good hopes to show in the mare classes this year for own er HOWARD EARNHART. Mr. Gilkey is taking in a lot of outside horses for training. Lea Mack Kay, a three-year-old sorrel mare owned by Mr. and Mrs. W. P. MORRIS of Leesburg, Ohio, has plenty of head motion and lots of speed. Go Girl’s Queen Bee, a two-year-old by Rock 'n Roll, is just started. She is owned by Howard Earnhart of Logan, Ohio. Eldorado Again, a beautiful two-year-old dark chestnut stud, was bought during the Celebration from CARL INGLE in Shelbyville by Mr. JOHN GILL, JR., of McArthur, Ohio. Mark of Shadow, a black three-year-old owned by TOM GINIVEN of Worth ington, Ohio, and D’s Go Boy, a three-year-old bay stud owned by PAUL DUFFY of Bellaire, Ohio, both look good. Dixie’s Pixie, a real going three-year-old mare out of Dixie Darling, is owned by DOUG ABEL of Holly Springs, Mississippi. The Abels, DOUG and DON, are newcomers to the Walking Horse business. Major Go Girl, a three-year-old mare owned by TOM CRACRAFT of St. Albans, West Virginia, and Milady’s Red Boy, a three-year-old gelding belong ing to HARRY MYKRANTZ of Wooster, Ohio, will be ones to watch for in the junior classes this year. Also appearing to be a top prospect is Go Boy’s Heritage, a three-year-old black roan stud owned by Dr. H. M. BOOCKS and Jack Gilkey. 30 I am pleased to announce that The Kentucky Walk ing Horse Sales, Inc. has been formed. The feeling is that interest in Tennessee Walking Horses in Ken tucky and north of Kentucky make a sale necessary in this area. The first semi-annual Walking Horse sale in Kentucky will be April 29, 1966, at the Hen ry County Fairgrounds, New Castle, Kentucky. Plans call for the second sale to be in September at the time of the Kentucky Walking Horse Celebration. Only the first one hundred horses will be catalogued and sold at the first sale, which is endorsed by the Kentucky Walking Horse Association. Information can be obtained by contacting the Kentucky Walking Horse Sales, Inc., New Castle, Kentucky. Mr. RAY L. LUTE of McDermott, Ohio, a former showman of three- and five-gaited horses, is a new comer to the Walking Horse world. We are happy to hear that he has completely turned to Walking Horses. He is working four horses at this time and is es pecially pleased with his four-year-old gelding, Set ting Sun’s Boss Man. This horse, by Setting Sun, was show to five blues and one fourth place last season. Mr. Lute’s three-year-old stud, Bomber Campaign, was shown to three blues and one red in open com petition. He also has a three-year-o'd stud, by Go Boy’s Invasion and out of a Midnight Sun mare, and a two-year-old filly out of a Society Man mare which are working quite well. Mr. Lute, like everyone else, is very anxious for the spring shows to begin.
