1965-Voice Of The Tennessee Walking Horse 1965 September Voice | Page 48
Confederate Raider and Mrs. Robert Schlei
cher repeated their 1964 Celebration victory
in this class with a thrilling ride to the blue
ribbon. Raider is one of the great old geld
ings of the breed and he shows no signs of
letting up. Magic Knight with Marjorie Gill
doing the riding tied the red ribbon over a
whole host of top contenders. Marjorie and
her horse were not spectacular but rather
they stuck right in there and performed well
in all gaits. Dr W. H. Hill had The Falcon D
flying high and flew away with the third spot
in this 51-entry class. This big class had all
the ingredients of a stake class and the riders
responded with a good show, much to the
delight of the crowd.

WALKING STALLIONS.
A unanimous choice on all three judges'
cards, Triple Threat gave the crowd a con
vincing performance in all three gaits. This
big bay stud, with Doug Wolaver in the sad
dle, proved to be just too much for the other
contenders as he swept his way to the blue
ribbon. Steve Hill piloted Go Boy's Royal Heir
to the number two spot in this class full of
talented stallions. Steve kept his horse in gear
and never faltered in tying reserve. Crowd
favorite Sam Paschal on high-stepping Johnny
Midnight put on a brilliant display to tie third.
Sam and Johnny Midnight really brought the
crowd to its feet when the judge called for
the running walk, as they flew by many of the
other horses with relative ease.

WALKING PONIES, 58” AND UNDER
Sun's Glory Boy, 1964 world’s champion
pony, carried pretty little Jan Wright to the
winner's circle with a sterling performance
before a large Celebration crowd. Jan cap
tured the top spot on two of the judges’ cards
and showed her horse to perfection in taking
the blue. Stephen Dunn on Sun's Gold Dust
provided plenty of stiff competition for the
winners in this class as he tied second in
the 31-entry class. Gold Dust made a strong
run at the blue and drew the crowd’s applause
for a determined showing. Tying third with a
fine exhibition was Power Pack with Gene
Renfroe in the saddle as he kept the class
close through the final turn.
