Because of these advantages , pre-fab horse barns are finding a place in increasing importance , especially for the person having one to six head .
STRUCTOGLAS SELECTED FOR USE IN FAMED EQUESTRIAN TRAINING CENTER
* Since a 12 ' x 12 ' stall costs little more than a 10 ' x 10 ', the larger stall is generally recommended , even for ponies . Then , when and if the occasion demands , it can also be used for most horses .
6 . Quarters for feed , bedding , and tack - in oneand two-stable horse barns , the feed , bedding and tack may be stored together in one room . In larger barns , provision should be made for separate rooms for ( 1 ) feed and bedding and ( 2 ) tack . On small horse establishments , it is generally best not to store more than a month ’ s supply offeedat a time . Also , the use of all pelleted rations ( hay and grain combined in a pellet ) materially lessens storage space requirements . 7 . Minimum fire risk - the use of fire-resistant materials , along with the observance of no-smoking signs , are two excellent safeguards against fire .
8 . Safety - in the construction of horse barns , it is important that safety features be incorporated . Doors and ceilings should be of adequate height , doors should be of sufficient width , and all projections should be alleviated .
9 . Rodent Control - rats and mice consume feed , damage tack , and spread disease . Thus , it is especially important that the feed and tack areas should be constructed so as to provide maximum protection against them .
10 . Surrounded by suitable corrals or paddocks - horse barns should be provided with well-drained , safe , durably fenced , and attractive corrals or paddocks — preferably adjacent to the building .
11 . Protect horse health - healthy horses are the superior and efficient performers . Hence , horse barns should provide healthful living conditions for the occupants . Pre-Fab Horse Barns
Today , several reputable firms manufacture and distribute pre-fab horse barns .
Under many conditions , the purchase of such a building may be the most economical and the least irksome . Such building fabricators have the distinct advantages of ( 1 ) purchase of materials in quantity lots ,
ROLAND M . KRAUS , owner and operator of the renowned Dorchester Farms , has selected Structoglas fiberglass reinforced panels for use in the construction of his new Equestrian Training Center .
A solar-blue shade of Structoglas was selected for installation in both side walls and ceiling skylights . This selection was based on beauty , economy , durability and ease of installation . Structoglas panels never need painting , won ’ t crack , shatter , rust or splinter - and require little or no maintenance aside from an occasional washing with an ordinary garden hose . Of particular importance is Structoglas ’ exceptional ability to transmit light - resulting in greatly reduced electricity costs . In fact , Mr . Kraus reports that artificial lighting is rarely used in the riding area .
The amazing weathering qualities of Structoglas " A ” acrylic modified panels assure Dorchester Farms of lasting beauty and years of long life .
