ti DON’T MISS THE “Hospitality Show of the South” j: CEDARTOWN OPTIMIST CLUB jj HORSE SHOW Cedartown, Georgia JULY 10th, 1965 Optimist Club Ball Field (Continued from page 44) Mr. Wright is an expert leather saddle maker and one of the oldest in the country. His saddle collection comes from all parts ofNorth Ameri ca. Unusual items include a Canad ian Mountie saddle that was in serv ice over 50 years ago; a Buena Vista gentleman’s riding saddle left from old plantation days; and a western saddle from Mexico City. This one is handmade of the finest leather. The pattern is of rosebuds and leaves. Each leaf and petal of the intricate design has been cut from separate hide and sewn so skillfully to the original body that it appears to be tooled from a single piece of leather. The rosebuds stand an inch high. Wright estimates that the saddle rep resents at least six months’ labor. It is definitely a collector’s item and the work of a craftsman, but not very practical for everyday use. It weighs about 100 pounds. So if you are ever in Fort Dodge, pay a visit to Charles Wright. The latest in modern tack for every type of horse and rider in a friendly old- time setting is a refreshing find in deed. Allow plenty of time- you won’t want to rush away. Minutes from the Corn Belt Walking Horse Association - courtesy of JEANNE HELTEBRIDLE CBWHA meeting was held in Tol edo on February 21. Discussion on judge for Walking Horse classes at Iowa State Fair was main topic. No definite appointment was made. Mr. RICHARD PETERS, Editor of ISHA magazine, was present to thank the Association for their support of the publication. The Association voted to use this magazine as one adver tising medium for 1965. Plans for 1965 Annual Midwest Celebration are pending. May, 1965 jj . 37 CUSSES • 10 BIG WALKING HORSE CUSSES .
