The Mt . Harmony Community Club Horse Show held August 1st , was a big success this year as it has been in previous years . The stake class was won by Jim Blair riding a much talked about stallion owned by Hank Sheelev of Dallas , Texas , MERRY MOTION MAKER . Jim works as a groom for Wink Groover and did a commendable job of showing the “ big hoss .”
August 6 , 7 . 8 , and 9 was the date for the annual Blowing Rock , North Carolina Horse Show . What a week that was !! Mr . Paul Smith of Winter Garden , Florida served as the Walking Horse judge .
The Clements of Hickory , North Carolina , whom we visited during this trip , cooked some of the finest steaks I ’ ve ever seen ! We all made good use of their swimming pool too .
The big stake class was won by Wink Groover atop MACK K ’ S 22 . Wink also won the mare class on a very good mare named SOUVE­ NIR MELODY owned by Mr . Whisnant of Hickory , North Carolina .
Highest honor received by an East Tennessee horse at the Celebration was JET ’ S ROCKET , a 3 year old mare owned by Jerry Armstrong of Englewood , Tennessee and ridden by Wink Groover . She took top honors in her class to become the 1964 World ’ s Champion 3 year old mare .
Kenny Dickson riding MERRY BLUE BOY for Owen Fulton of Athens , came in second in the Owner-Amateur Rider to Judge Class . Vicki Lynn Thompson riding MR . SHOWMAN made a brilliant show taking top honors in the class . I would like to congratulate Kendall Armstrong of Englewood , Tennessee for the fine job of judging he did when chosen by lot to judge this class . SMOKE ’ S JOSIE LEE , a 2 year old filly owned by Mack Watts of Englewood , Tennessee placed 7th in the Celebration and 4th in the 2 year old filly class in the Futurity with Wink up . Mr . and Mrs . A1 Burnette and Mr . and Mrs . Lewis Burke were very proud of their 2 year old stud , GO BOY ’ S BIG BOY . He placed second in the Futurity 2 year old stud class . Carolyn Stansberry did herself proud with her beautiful stallion MERRY BOY ’ S SHADOW . Carolyn is a fine amateur trainer and rider and we hope that someday the breaks will go her way .
Kay Pierce of Kingsport , Tennessee is the nw owner of the champion mare , FAIR WARNING . This mare was previously owned by Doodles Thompson of Dallas , Texas . Good luck with your new mare Kay !
Don Galloway really looks sharp atop his new gelding owned by W . A . Catlett of Knoxville . I rode this gelding named MERRY BOY ’ S REBELAIRE last Saturday and had the time of my life !
Congratulations to PERFEC­ TIONS CARBON COPY and Joe Webb and all the owners . CAR­ BON COPY is small in size but he grows up fast when he comes into the ring ! Also , congratulations to Harold Kennedy , the Clements , Mr . W . Clyde Abernathy and Mr . J . B . Sherrill . Maybe TRIPLE THREAT will be added to that list of Grand Champions next year . He is a three gaited Walking Horse that is really a thrill to watch .

I am so very happy that so many of our horses and riders did well . To place at the Celebration is easier said than done . The scope of that show has gotten to the tremendous stage , and there are so many good horses and riders those who have never attended can ’ t possibly imagine the thrill of it all .
Lin-Mar Stables of Louise , Miss ., with Marjorie Gill up , placed MAGIC NIGHT eighth in the Owner-Amateur Ladies on Mares or Geldings Class and Judy Knowles of Jackson , Miss ., placed TOUCHE fifth . In the 12 and under Juveniles on Mares or Geldings , Brenda Bramlett of Holly Springs placed third on MERRY MELINDA . In the Over 50 Class for Amateurs , Gayden Schrock of near-by Poplarville , Miss ., took fourth . The very crowded Two Year Old Stallion Class saw Circle R Stables of West Point , Miss ., entry , GO BOY ’ S DESTINY , place ninth .
Ray Graham and Hallie Goodling of Meridan , Miss ., both showed their mounts in the Juveniles on Mares or Geldings , Riders 13-18 . Miss Goodling placed MISSISSIP­ PI GAMBLER second . Miss Graham took Sun ’ s Paper Doll to a 5th place win . L . L . Majure of Meridian , Miss ., saw his three year old mare MISS MAJURETTE tie third in her class . MYSTERY ’ S FURY , two year old gelding of Mr . C . D . Maddox , tied third in his class and Mr . and Mrs . Marvin Thompson ’ s SHINE ’ S HAY BOY placed fifth . SHADOW ' S SUN TAN brought in a 10th place to Mr . M . L . Cashion of Jackson , Miss .
Miss D ’ Leese Williamson of Jackson , Miss ., really brought home the bacon in the Owner-Amateur on Stallions Class . BOMB ’ S BALLY HOO worked like a charm for D ’ Leese and they both deserved the blue ribbon they got . Bill Baynard of Baton Rouge , La ., placed his MY SUNDUST SENSATION to a 7th place in this same class .
