THINGS I HAVE LEARNED ALONG THE WAY . . .
A piece of cotton on your screen door won ’ t keep the flies out .
* * *
Rice mixed with salt in the salt shaker will keep the salt dry if the weather is not too wet .
* * *
When an individual stumbles , the first thing he does is look around to see if anybody saw him .
* * *
When you are in a group of people start feeling of your nose to see if it is clean , the chances are that everyone else in the room will feel of his nose .
* * *
To cook steak out in the yard sprinkle a little garlic salt on it , then powder it generously with chili powder before broiling . The crust seals in the juices .
# * *
Hamburger mixed with onion soup ( dry ) and then cooked out in the yard tastes better than just plain old hamburger — if you like onions .
# * *
Most men will obey their wives 90 % of the time , but when the chips are down and it is a big decision , Papa gives the nod .
J { C # *
Most drivers automatically put on their brakes when they see a
police car .
# * *
Most people who ask advice usually ignore it and do as they please .
* # * Night baseball will never replace sex .
There is nothing difficult about being seventeen . The rest of the world just doesn ’ t understand .
* * * No matter how well broken a horse is , he is liable to kick or bite . * * *
Lake Tahoe and Yosemite Falls are the two most beautiful places I have ever seen , but they don ’ t look near as good as my own home after I have been traveling .
* * *
Truck Drivers have a communication system among themselves . They can signal each other concerning policemen , highway patrolmen , wrecks , weighing stations , log books , and all clear . It must be disturbing to some of the highway patrolmen .
* * *
As a rule the male of the species either behaves or misbehaves , according to the whims of the female of the species .

RIDE-A-TKON INCREASES INTEREST
One of the most picturesque pleasure rides of the season was enjoyed Sunday afternoon , October 11 , at the Jim Farrar farm at Flat Creek . The Farrars really make a ride complete . We were fortunate to have two representatives from the Wilson Stock Farm , Murfreesboro , and four people from Tullahoma . A wonderful time was enjoyed by all .
While there , Mr . Joe Tillett , of the Tillett Brothers , invited us to their home on the Unionville Pike at 1:00 p . m . Sunday next , October 18 . Last year a wonderful ride was enjoyed at the Tillets ’. This is to be a good ride .
Mrs . W . P . Millard of Tullahoma promises a large delegation from Tullahoma , and with the Murfreesboro addition along with our Moore County friends , this is to be possibly the largest ride we will have this year . The Tilletts have promised to make this a most enjoyable afternoon . Your ticket is your horse — The treasurer is always present .
With the forty-odd horses at Flat Creek , the October 18th ride should top one hundred . Hope to see you there !
