barn stormij HORACE YOUNG STABLES Horace Young from Columbia has a barn full of horses these days. Tops on his list is the World’s Champion pony, LITTLE BIT OF TROUBLE, that is owned by Joe Kelly and shown by Ray Beech. Joe Kelly will be showing SUN- DUST JUBILEE this year. This is the horse that Jim Kelly won around 20 blues with as a two year old. Speaking of Jim, he’s been in France for Uncle Sam for about two years, but is back in Columbia now, ready to become active in the show world again. Horace has a mare ready to show this season for Tom Jones of Brentwood, Ten­ nessee, that’s a full sister to NIGHT SHADE. Another mare from this stable this year will be one owned by S. M. Barr of Bax­ ter, Tennessee. There’s another pony in the future for these sta­ bles, SUN DUST LITTLE REBEL that Judy Young will be showing this year. This is one that they say has a tremendous amount of speed. * * * HARRY MELTON STABLES Harry Melton Stables, Newport, Tennessee, seems to be humming with activity these days. Mr. Mel­ ton and J. D. Stokley of Falls Church, Virginia have an aged black stallion by MERRY GO BOY out of a LAST CHANCE mare that they are breeding. Sev­ eral people say this is one of the best looking MERRY GO BOY horses around. Mr. Melton is do­ ing quite well in the Carolinas and Tennessee with two white horses. R. Barrington of Columbus, Georgia appears on the way to developing quite a name for itself under the capable manage­ ment of Mr. Hoyle Alexander and Son. Working out of a new stable, Hoyle is now training thirteen Walking Horses for the Barring­ tons and others in and around the Columbus, Georgia area. The new barn has 24 box stalls, 12’ square with an indoor riding arena and all other necessary features to train top Walking Horse stock for show and pleasure purposes.
