faster and higher and higher around the ring .
THE FLYING DOLLAR , winner at the San Francisco Cow Palace last fall , was edged out by MR . EXECUTIVE , a flashy chestnut . The two will meet in competition again tonight .” When the show was over we heard some of the following comments as the audience dispersed , “ Those Walkers , did you ever see anything like that !” We ’ ve got to get in somehow tomorrow night just to see those Walkers !” “ Those Walkers , aren ’ t they Something !” “ Daddy , I wanna Walker !”
Saturday night , an overflow crowd saw a real contest in the Walking Horse stake class . From the moment they hit the ring , MR EXECUTIVE . THE FLYING DOL LAR , and JOE ’ S LIL QUEEN made it apparent they were reachin ,’ noddin ,' rockin ’, for one thing — that first place ribbon . It was a beautiful class of 8 top horses . Again , MR . EXECUTIVE , a beautiful horse who performed with great speed in his big walk , but maintained perfect form in all three gaits , came out with the blue . THE FLYING DOLLAR , a shiny black , took the crowds ’ fancy , and did they “ root ”! And , it was close ! With JOE ’ S LIL QUEEN performing her heart out and giving those boys a real scare and SQAWMAN ’ S LANCER and GOLDEN SUN ’ S TROUBLE right in there too . One thing is sure , there ’ ll be no difficulty getting Walking Horse classes in the show next year . They won the hearts of the crowd , and the crowd showed it .
One thing speaks well for the show . The day after the show , plans are in the making for improvements “ next year .” The management and all committees are actually asking for criticism , constructive criticism , with the goal in mind of making this show one of the outstanding ones in the country . And , that ’ s the spirit it takes to do it . More power to them !
