TENNESSEE WALKING H I^ RSE
COVER STORY (Contdd
through WILSON DEAN, with the
blood of MERRY LEGS to pro
duce the outstanding dam WIL
SON SNIP’S CHANCE, who prov
ed to be an ideal cross with the
renowned MIDNIGHT SUN. Of
these two superior individuals,
each representing generations of
careful, selective breeding, SUN’S
DELIGHT was produced in 1959.
He has every right to be called “a
young stallion bred in the purple.”
Mr. Harlin Hayes, manager of
the famous breeding establishment
at Harlinsdale Farm, Franklin,
Tennessee, expressed particular
pleasure in securing SUN’S DE
LIGHT to stand alongside his fam
ous sire and such other exceptional
horses as SUN’S BIG SHOT and
MIDNIGHT BEAU. Mr. Hayes is
one of those knowldegeable and
experienced horsemen predicting
great success for SUN’S DELIGHT
as a sire of champions. ‘‘He has
all the quality and the natural way
of going that it takes to make a
great sire. There is absolutely
nothing hand-made about that
horse. Many spectators who have
seen them all at the Celebration
called SUN’S DELIGHT the great
est Walking Horse ever seen in a
ring, and everybody knows he was
doing it all naturally. He has
proved what he can do, and he has
the breeding behind him to go with
his own natural ways. There is no
doubt in my mind that he will
prove to be one of the truly great
sires of all time. We are very
happy that Mr. Escue has agreed
to stand him here at Harlinsdale
Farm.”
A liver chestnut horse of ideal
size and faultless conformation,
SUN’S DELIGHT has the motion
and the speed to capture the fancy
of the entire audience at a show
and the perfection of gaits to thrill
the most exacting judges of Walk
ing Horses. Together with the
bloom and the heart of a champion,
he has the gentleness and the
manners of a perfect mount for
children. This rare combination of
qualities indicates his true great
ness as a show horse and will add
to his accomplishments as a sire.
