The Dixie Horse Show Ju­ bilee, a long-standing favorite of horsemen all over the country, pro­ gresses each year with incompar­ able facilities and staff. The charm of Baton Rouge coup­ led with a people who truly love Tennessee Walking Horses and all phases of their being seem to bring about an atmosphere that is un­ beatable for their yearly show. Beginning on Thursday night, the Jubilee opened with the first event being Senior Walking Geldings. GOLDEN SOUVENIR owned by Mr. and Mrs. Bill Baynard and rid­ den by Jack Warren placed first. CONFEDERATE RAIDER with Vickie Lynn Thompson up for Mrs. Robert Schliecher was reserve. Complete results of the show are listed in Show results. In the Senior Walking Mares, UNTOUCHABLE owned by Judy Tillett and ridden by Vic Thomp­ son took top honors. SHADOW’S DANCER ridden by Jimmy Wad­ dell for Chester Coon took the sec­ ond spot. Senior Walking Stallions came next with TRIPLE THREAT rid­ den by Harold Kennedy for Cle­ 4 ment, Sherrill and Abernathy put on an outstanding show to place first. Hank Sheely’s GO BOY’S ROYAL HEIR with Buddy Hugh up was second. In the Ladies’ Amateur-Owner Stake Mrs. Frank Parnell on LADY GODIVA topped all other entries with Betty Keene Lundberg on SHADOW’S GAY LADY placing reserve. In the first class of the Fri­ day afternoon performance GUN- SMOKE’S STARLIGHT owned by Pat Stringer and ridden by Jimmy Waddell was chosen to wear the Junior Walking Mare Crown. Jer­ ry Armstrong’s JET’S ROCKETT shown by Wink Groover came in second. Junior Walking Geldings brought for C. D. Maddox’s MERRY SEC­ RET ridden by Jimmy Holloway into the center spotlight. GO BOY BLUE owned by Dick Bell and shown by George Livingstone took second. Next came the “wee ones”, with SHADOW’S PRIMROSE, Two- Year-Old Walking Mare belonging to R. D. Keene and ridden by Preach Fleming walked her way right into a first place victory. PERFECTION’S SHADOW S with Jimmy Waddell aboard for the Schaefer Farms was reserve. In the Two - year - old Walking Stallions & Geldings Class, Buddy Hugh showed Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Arnold’s SHADOW’S KING COT­ TON to an impressive first place win. Vic Thompson’s BACK LASH ridden by George Livingstone was reserve. The final class of the Friday af­ ternoon performance saw a top class of Three-year-old stallions. GUNSMOKE’S SON owned by Mr. and Mrs. Barkley Brock continued his winning way under Buddy Hughs’ expert handling. GO BOY’S CRIMSON TIDE owned by Capt. and Mrs. E. A. Self and shown by Wink Groover was reserve. Opening the Friday Night’s show —GO BOY’S JET carried owner Sherrill Marks to a sure-fired vic­ tory in the Senior Juvenile Walk­ ing Stake. Barney Barnwell placed second on SUN’S LIGHTNIN ANN. In the Junior Juvenile Walking Stake favorites Jan Wright and DARK SHADOW came in for the blue while Judy Tillett brought UNTOUCHABLE to reserve. In the final event Friday night, LADY GODIVA and Mrs. Frank Parnell teamed up to the class. Re­ serve went to Betty Lundberg on SHADOW’S GAY LADY.
