RIDERS 15-18
Good riders . . . good ponies . . . good contest ! This amply describes the class . Here we saw the potenital trainers and top amateurs competing for top honors . Jimmy McFarlin , riding SIR HENRY ’ S ECHO the top spot with 2 first place bids and a second by the referee . Top seeded Jimmy Ellis , a long time favorite of celebration audiences took second on his SUN ’ S GLORY BOY , followed by SUN ’ S GOLD DUST ridden by Bobby Burris . Not to be denied was Debbie Diehl on GO BOY ’ S BLACK STAR who tied forth . Other winners were firm contenders all the way and the retirement ( due to age ) of the number one and two winners opens up new fields to conquer for ’ 64 .
