Tuscaloosa Show June 7-8 Slated As Record Breaker
Tuscaloosa , Ala ., will be the mecca for thousands of Tennessee Walking Horse followers June 7-8 with a twonight show expected to break all records in that area for attendance , competition and interest . It is sponsored by the Junior Welfare Assn ., of Tuscaloosa , a spirited band of young women who seem to believe their greatest aim in life is to help indigent children get a chance to make good in this world . Their goal for the show alone is $ 8,000 in the welfare kitty — a new peak .
There will be 33 classes — including events for Tennessee Walking Horses , Walking Ponies , 3-gaited , equitation , 3-gaited and 5-gaited ponies , roadster ponies , hunter , jumper , pleasure and Shetland entries .
The striking Tuscaloosa Riding Club provides improved facilities in all phases for exhibitors and spectators .

Voice Editor Ben A . Green and Mary Frances Green , Voice Secretary , will visit in Tuscaloosa for the entire week — helping promote the show in every possible way , selling books ( Biography of the Tennessee Walking Horse ) and magazine subscriptions with the Junior Welfare Assn , getting 20 per cent of all gross proceeds . Green worked in Tuscaloosa for 20 years with the Tuscaloosa News and Mrs . Green was born in that West Alabama area and lived there until she married Ben Aug . 17 , 1961 , and he made a Tennessean out of her . (“ Shelbyville friends say I earned the Oscar of the year by bringing Mary Frances to Shelbyville ,” says Ben .)
