Voice of the Tennessee Walking Horse 3 Greatest Celebration Ever Schedules 58 Night Classes Sept. 1-7 Plans for the “Greatest Celebration Ever” in observance of this wondrous show’s Silver Anniversary—Sept. 1-7 at Shelbyville, Tenn.—call for 58 classes, all in the nightime, and prize money exceeding $25,000. President Wiliam C. Tune, Jr. of the Tennessee Walking Horse Na tional Celebration Executive Commit tee announced the class list as prep arations went forward to care for record-breaking crowds, with addi tional seating facilities including 283 new boxes, each with six chairs. Show Judges Named Celebration President Tune an nounced the Horse Show Judges and Officials for the 7-night show starting Sunday, Sept. 1 at 8 p.m. with other night programs starting at 7:30 p.m. The Grand Championship Walking Horse Stake to crown the Champion Walking Horse of the World will con clude the week-long show Sept. 7 with SI,000 top money and the total for this stake being S3,160. Judging the Walking Division will be: Hulan Ferrell of Baxter, Tenn., near Cookeville, who was a judge at the 1951 Celebration; J. B. Smith, vet eran trainer and manager at Dixie Plantation, famous establishment of Mrs. G. M. Livingston at Quitman, Ca. (Smith also being a former Cele bration judge); and Billy Liles, promi nent trainer at Hy-Tyre Farms, owned by Dr. and Mrs. H. Fiskin, Gibsonia, Pa. Judging the Saddle Fine Harness and Roadster Division wil be Herbert McLain, New Orleans, La. Judge of Equitation will be Mrs. Eci Ezell, Jr., Chapel Hill, Tenn. Sam Gibbons of Athens, Ala., is show manager and Emmet Guy of Jackson, Tenn., is announcer, both in roles they have held at the Celebra tion for y 4 ars. On the Celebration Executive Com mittee with President Tune are: W. L. Parker, vice-president; P. J. Scudder, secretary-treasurer; E. L. Adamson, R. M. Thomas, H. J. Thompson and H. C. Tilford, Jr., directors. Celebration entries close at mid night, Thursday, Aug. 15; entries sent by mail must be postmarked before midnight, August 15, 1963, and post entries will not be accepted—the official announcement said. Entries should be mailed to the Celebration, Inc., P.O. Box 192, Shelbyville, Tenn. The 28-page class sheet listing all classes, premiums, entry fees, and rules and regulations are being mailed to all prospective exhibitors. Attention is called to several changes and clarifica tions in the Celebration’s Rules and Regulations as set out in the official announcement. Any horse showing in the Grand Championship Walking Stake, or in any and all other championship stake classes, must have been previously shown and judged in at least one other qualifying class in the division at the show.
