McEachern of Atlanta, Ga. She was the first horse to win both the Junior Championship Stake and the World’s Grand Championship on successive nights. 1950— Old Glory’s Big Man, 5-year-old stallion, ridden by Carl Edwards for Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Budd of Quincy, Fla. 1951— 52-53—Talk of the Town, 4-year-old gelding ridden to three successive championships by Steve Hill for L.A. Chemell and E. P. Riley of Gainesville, Ga. The only 3-time winner to date. 1954— White Star, 5-year-old white mare ridden by 23- year-old Percy Moss for Dr. and Mrs. W. V. Gamier of Bastrop, La. Moss was the youngest rider of a world’s champion until 1960. 1955- 56—Go Boy’s Shadow, 3-year-old stallion ridden to two successive championships by Winston Wiser for Wiser and E. H. Padgett. He was the second champion to win both the Junior Championship Stake and the world’s cham­ pionship as a 3-year-old. 1957— Sun’s Jet Parade, 6-year-old stallion ridden by Vic Thompson for G. G. Gardelbled of New Orleans, La. 1958— Setting Sun, 6-year-old stallion ridden by Sam Paschal for M. M. Bullard of Newport, Tenn. 1959— Rodgers’ Perfection, 4-year-old stallion ridden by Joe Webb for Dr. and Mrs. Porter R. Rodgers of Searcy, Ark. 1960— Mack K’s Handshaker, 4-year-old stallion ridden by 22-year-old Douglas Wolaver for Myron Wolaver of near Pulaski, Tenn. and W. H. Gibson of Union Springs, Ala. 1961— B. Major Wilson, 9-year-old stallion ridden by his owner Claude Brown of Morehead, Ky. who became the second amateur in Celebration history to ride to a world’s grand championship—and with the oldest horse in history to win except for Haynes Peacock, the 12-year-old gelding who won in 1940 and also 1941 with Col. Jack L. Haynes riding. 1962— Ebony Masterpiece, 5-year-old stallion ridden by Sam Paschal of Murfreesboro, Tenn., who rode Setting Sam to the title in 1958. He thus takes a place beside Steve Hill as being the only living trainers to win World’s Champion­ ships on two different horses. Steve won it three times on Talk of the Town and once on Midnight Merry. The late Trainer Winston Wiser won twice on Merry Go Boy, twice on Go Boy’s Shadow and once on Black Angel. The late Trainer Floyd Carothers won on Strolling Jim and Melody Maid. Col. Jack L. Haynes of Maury County, an amateur, won twice on his Haynes Peacock, in 1940-41. Mildred Downing, Covington, Tenn.
