Dear Mr, Green;
As we ■ ,v of your avid interest
in Walki.;-/ Horse people and associa
tions, I ar.t taking this opportunity to
inform yet and tour readers of our
activities here in the frozen North.
The annua: meeting of the New
York—New England Walking Horse
Association was held Saturday, Feb
ruary 9th in Syracuse, New York. It
was a warm and enthusiastic meeting,
with a good turnout despite the poor
weather conditions.
One of the most important items
of business was the incorporation of
tile group and die changing of our
name to the Northeastern Walking
Horse Association. This was done in
view of increasing number of requests
for membership from Walking Horse
enthusiasts in Pennsylvania and New
Jersey. We consider it nothing but
flattering! It also points up the ever-
growing interest in Walking Horses in
this area.
I might also add here that the vital
ity of the group is in no small part
tlue to your own enthusiastic address
before us at our 1962 annual meeting
just a year ago.
Walker ‘Recognized’
One of our most important accom
plishments since then has been affilia
tion with the New York State Breed
er's Association. This is the climax of
a hard-fought struggle in this area for
recognition of the Tennessee Walking
Horse as a distinct and separate breed.
As you know, this has been a long
struggle, but a rewarding one, in the
history of Walking Horses throughout
the United States.
Another happy fact is the strong
representation of pleasure horse peo
ple in our membership. I personally
believe this is essential to the vitality
of such a group.
We are looking forward to another
year of continued growth and pub
licity of Walking Horse popularity in
this area.
With kindest regards,
David L. Kittredge
