Neatest Pooled Horse Show Facility In World Is Planned
By BEN A. GREEN
Quiki Tree, Pa. (00 miles east of
Pittsburgh on U.S. 22 toward Altoona
and Philadelphia) — Dedication of
Quiki Tree Stables took place here
today—March 23—to launch the most
fabulous Tennessee Walking Horse
Promotion Enterprise in the history
of this 100-year-old breed.
The dedication featured a prayer by
O. C. Lightner of Ohio, brief remarks
by State Rep. William G. Buchanan
of Indiana, Pa.—12 miles away—rep
resenting the multi-millionaire Gover
nor William Scranton; remarks by
W. H. (Bill) Ferguson, president of
Quiki T ree Stables, and Quiki Tree
Farms; and an address by Voice Edi
tor Ben A. Green, who represented
the Tennessee Walking Horse Breed
er's & Exhibitor's Assn, of America,
Inc.; the Tennessee Walking Horse
National Celebration of Shelbyville,
Tenn., P. O. Box 90.
Mr. Lightner's prayer called upon
all persons present to look to the Lord
for guidance as a great enterprise was
launched.
“1 am very much impressed with
the progress already made in launch
ing a new industry into the County of
Indiana, Pennsylvania,” declared Rep
resentative Buchanan.
“I am very much interested in the
furtherance of this industry—and I
can assure you that if Governor Scran
ton were here today he likewise would
be much inspired and encouraged
over the prospects Mr. Ferguson has
outlined to us.”
State Rep. William B. Buchanan of Indiana County, Pa., Mrs. Buchanan and Presi
dent W. H. (Bill) Ferguson of Quiki Tree Stables on Dedication Day.
Pledges State Cooperation
The legislator also pledged his best
efforts to cooperate in every possible
way to help make this new home
grown enterprise—conceived in the
mind of an Indiana Countian—be
come the nationwide attraction it
promises to become within five years.
The lovely Mrs. Buchanan accom
panied her husband. She said she
would have brought the children also
had she known there would be other
children here who showed so vividly
their innate love for horses.
President Bill Ferguson of Quiki
Tree Stables then revealed his plans
which are certain to startle the Ten
nessee Walking Horse World.
“We plan to proceed as soon as
the plans are completed to duplicate
here the wonderful Celebration
Grounds that 1 visited in Shelbyville
last year for the 24th annual Celebra
tion—and will visit again this year for
the Silver Anniversary of that World
Championship Tennessee Walking
Horse Show,” said Ferguson.
“Ben Green—whom I trust—tells
me they can seat 20,000 people at the
Celebration Grounds this year with
a new addition—and I tell you we
will in time be able to seat 20,000
people here around a track that is
exactly equal to the Celebration track.
Ben tells me it is 300 feet long and
150 feet wide—including the infield.
Ben has given me the specifications
and we will duplicate it here—includ
ing stands—within the next few years.”
Ferguson went on as his audience
gasped and gaped.
"Only two pictures in our place means
anything to me, "remarked Bill Fer
guson, Squire of Quiki Tree Stables,
"They are my wife and my horse. Our
