Rodgers ' Perfection ' s $ 500 Srud Fee Sets New Record For Wqlking Horse

Another highl , v significant development in the field of " Tennessee Walking Horse Appreciation " took place recentlv u-hen Dr . Porter Rodgers annouricecl the service fee for -his championship stallion-Rodgers ' Perfection-will be $ 500 this season .
This apparently marks an alltime high for stud fees in the history of the breed . As such it is another element that strengthens the basic factors in valuation of all registered
Tennessee Walking Florses . Some students of the breed have expressed belief for years that higher stud fees should prevail with reference to champion stallions of the breed . -fhey cite higher fees in all other major horse breeds and in breeds of other animals used for show purposes and also some for racing .

Rodgers ' Perfection was crowned the Celebration Grand Champion of the
World in 1959 at Shelbyville . He was promptly retired by his owner as a
4-year-old but continued to take part in exhibitions and began an extensive breeding program .
Some of his colts are ready to show this vear as two-vear-olds and Trainer- Man ' ager Joe ' illebb says they are promiiing indeed . It was Webb who irained Perfection almost his entire
lifetime at the Rodgers ' farm at Searcy , Ark . He practicallY duplicated the Celebration track-inch-byinch-in preparing for the championship sweep . In 1958 Perfection placed second to Go Boy ' s Invasion in the
Junior Championship stake but the iables were exactly reversed in the 1959 Grand Championship .
