Book Burned In Chair Fire
“ We had a fire at our home . A chair completely burned causing much damage ." writes Mrs . Walter R . Wallinglord , Trinity , Ky . My husband ’ s copy of the Biography of the Tennessee Walking Horse was burned halfway through beginning at the front . He thought so much of your book that I would like to replace it . I would like to know if a second copy would be at the same price as the first copy ?" ( Yes , Mrs . Wallingford , more copies are available and the price will be the same as was paid for the book at the Celebration . We are sorry for the fire and hope damage was not too great . And the fact that your husband values the book so highly gives us encouragement to push right on with the training book to be published in August . It takes a good deal of nerve to start printing a second book when you have a carport full of unsold books in your carport . But we will do exactly that . The " Biography ” is a permanent book , and will be in demand after we are long gone from Lhis earth . BAG .)
Believes In Seal Bells
A special person in our book is Dr . James C . Andrews , 801 East High St .. Charlottesville , Va . He loves Tennessee Walkers and he loves people . On his letters he uses a rubber stamp that says “ SEAT BELTS SAVE LIVES ." It carries an illustration to show a man in a car belted to his seat . In a letter he says in a P . S . “ You could plug seat belts for me .” Evidently the good Doctor believes seal belts make for safety in driving . He wants to help you . Do you own a seat bell ? Do you use it ? We have a good friend who says he lives today because he used a seat belt five years ago . BAG .

News About Jan Wright
We hear by the newspaper grapevine that 10-year-old Jan Wright of Nacogdoches , Tex . almost had to hire an extra horse van to lake home her trophy from the New Orleans Horse Show . She won blue ribbons in the Juvenile Walking Class for riders under 12 on Walkaway Dark Shadow , owned by her grandmother , Mrs . M . S . Wright ; took a blue for equitation Walking Horse Seat on Honeytime , and also a reserve championship in this type riding . She won temporary possession of the 3-foot-high challenge trophy offered by Mr . and Mrs . J . Glenn Turner ’ s Circle T Ranch in the Juvenile class . It must be won three straight times for permanent possession . Jan was a fifth grader last school term , has been riding four years and her parents are Mr . and Mrs . Joe Wright . Her horses are in the Lone Star Stable operated by the Texas Farm Products Co . In Issue No . 1 of the Voice , Father Joe Wright said Jan is the “ inspiration girl " of the Wrights ’ whole Tennessee Walking Horse operation . Bill Moore is the trainer . He took a fourth place on Walkaway Dark Shadow1 at New Orleans . Later we heard Jan also won first in a juvenile class at Tulsa , and look many other ribbons elsewhere .

“ Goldens ” In Copperliill
J . M . and Helen Golden , who operate Super Service Station in Copperhill , Term , learned from the May Voice that the Rev . Bruce Green , vicar at St . Mark ’ s Episcopal Church , ( one of their customers ) is my son . “ My husband and I have a Last Chance mare , 16 years old , and we have raised three registered mares from her ,” Helen writes . " All have good bloodlines . She is now at Wink Groover ’ s Stables for breeding again .
In a year or so we hope to set up so we can raise Walking Horses and sell them as pleasure horses . There ’ s nothing that can take the place of a good ride on a Tennessee Walker . We can hardly wait from month to month to gel our magazine . We are also looking forward to your training book of 300 pages .” ( It will be fine to have Walkers in the Copperliill area where we have met so many fine folks . And there is an enormous demand for pleasure Walkers . More power to your dreams . BAG ).

Holmes Lose “ Daughter-Jockey ”
“ Our jockey , my eldest daughter , has up and married and moved to Twin Falls , Idaho , where she is working at Magic Valley Hospital in the pathology lab ," writes George Holmes of Walking H Farm , Box 125 , Sherman Road , Chardon , Ohio . “ We are sure going to miss that blonde head astride Sun Dust Shadow . The good wife is more philosophical . She says , ‘ Now maybe , we ’ ll see you astride a good horse for a change .' I guess it ’ s normal to give your kids the best and lhat applies to horses , too . But things aren ’ t the same around the ole ‘ Walking H Farm ,’ ” ( You are lucky , George , that your daughter did not “ walk oil ” with Sun Dust Shadow when she left . You ought to take the horse to her , maybe next birthday , BAG )
