Without going too off track , what I just explained about the ‘ found object ’ resonates to me making the most out of everyday , overlooked banal subjects and shoes are just one of these subjects . Just looking on the web there must be something about abandoned shoes , people have even written poems about them and even funnier , director Spike Jones has a short film on the subject that you can find on YouTube called ‘ How they get there ’. I find it vaguely sad and I feel obliged to photograph it . There ’ s a difference between abandoned furniture and footwear as I think the footwear is more intimate as they have been attached to the person on a regular basis .
