Supervisor Mike Wasserman was elected to the Santa Clara
County Board of Supervisors in November 2010, and re-elect-
ed in 2014. He represents District 1, which includes Gilroy,
San Martin, Morgan Hill, Los Gatos, Monte Sereno and por-

All-Inclusive
Playground
Grant
Program
I
t is important for children of all abilities to have a safe
and fun place to play in our community. The Santa Clara
County Board of Supervisors recently established the
All-Inclusive Playground Grant Program (AIPG) to provide
grants to local cities, school districts, non-profi ts and/or other
governmental entities interested in bringing all-inclusive play-
grounds into their communities within Santa Clara County.
An all-inclusive playground is a public space that is
designed with accessibility for wheel chair and non-wheel-
chair bound individuals with disabilities. All-inclusive
playgrounds should include design elements to address the
needs of people with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory
Challenges, Visual and Auditorium Impairments, medically

fragile individuals, Cognitive, Developmental and Physical
Disabilities. Any local public agency such as schools and
cities, as well as non-profit corporations with 501(c)
(3) certification can apply for some of the $10 million in
matching funds may be available county-wide, allocated
among the five supervisorial districts in the amount of two
million dollars each. More than one grant project may be
awarded per district. The match is one applicant dollar to one
AIPG dollar for all AIPG grants. Applications are due before
Wednesday, October 18, 2017. For more information, please
