WHY SHOULD I JOIN A SOCIETY?
- Societies are great fun!
- You make lifelong friends in societies.
- You will get a once in a lifetime chance to do things.
- Develop your personal interests.
- You can learn useful skills.
HOW DO I JOIN A SOCIETY?
- Visit a society on Freshers’ Fest (September 10th) or Societies Day (September 14th) and sign up!
- Come to the first event of a society and sign up there!
- Come along at any stage during the year, and ask to become a member.
- E-mail a society and ask to sign up.
WHEN CAN I JOIN A SOCIETY?
- Once you are a student in UCC you can become a member you can become a members of a society. They are free to join so
don’t be afraid to get involved throughout the year.
HOW MANY SOCIETIES CAN I JOIN?
- Join as many as you want! There is no limit or charge to join a society so feel free to join as many as you like!
I HAVE A BIG INTEREST IN ONE SOCIETY, HOW CAN I GET MORE INVOLVED?
- Each society is run by a student committee who are responsible for organising, promoting and managing society events.
- All societies will be looking for a first year rep in September and October, so don’t be afraid to go for it! If you are interest but
are scared of going to an EGM, then just send the society an email to express your interest. They will help you with the process.
- You can get involved in other ways such as simply attending events, joining a sub-committee or volunteering to help the
committee.
WHAT IF I DON’T SEE A SOCIETY FOR SOMETHING I’M INTERESTED IN?
- If you don’t see a society you would like to join in this magazine, then you could always start one up!

WHO ARE THE SOCIETIES EXECUTIVE?
- They are a team of students elected by all societies in UCC that provide support and training for societies.
- If you have any questions about societies, then feel free to contact them or if you see them on campus, stop and ask them. Trust
me, they LOVE societies!
