HEALTH UCC Health Society’s aim is to make the UCC student body more aware of how to live a healthy lifestyle. Last year we were able to get the UCC students thinking about their food choices, and learning about certain health risks that are attached to the choices we make on a day-to-day basis. This year we would like to add in the next element of our Ethos, Fitness. Although we are not a club, we want to get the UCC student body up and running. Fitness is a major component of being a healthy human being. [email protected] Apart from this we’d like to build on last year’s collaborations with Mindfulness, Vegetarianism and continue to raise valuable funds for the charities close to our hearts. Student life can be tricky to manage, which we understand completely. Because of this we have decided to put as much as we can up on our Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr pages to keep you informed, interested and motivated. So if this blurb interested you in any way, do pop along to our AGM and our events throughout the year. UCCHealthSociety health HISPANIC ¡Hola, amigos! The UCC Hispanic Society celebrates everything about Hispanic culture and language. Our interest is not limited to Spanish, as we also celebrate Catalan, Galician, Basque, Portuguese and Latin American culture. The society aims to bring people together through a mutual interest in Hispanic Culture, be it food, music, film or language. Everyone involved has a lot of fun and our events are always memorable. We host a variety of events throughout the academic year, including Movie Screenings, Hispanic Food Nights, Quizzes, and Intercambio (Language Exchange) Nights. We also hold monthly Latin dancing classes, led by our fantastic teachers. [email protected] 32 We hold our annual Hispanic Week near the beginning of Semester 2 and it is a great week-long celebration with daily events, great parties and is always a crazy week. If you are studying a Hispanic language, the society is a great place to practice what you’ve learned. We are also here as a resource to any Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American students studying abroad at UCC. Please feel free to contact us, if you are having any problems, during the course of the year. If you’d like to get more involved in the Hispanic Society, we’ll be holding our EGM at the start of the year, to elect our new committee. Keep an eye on our Facebook page or e-mail us.
