UCC English Society is the perfect society for literature and culture enthusiasts alike . We offer a wide range of academic and social activities , including monthly book club and open mic nights , as well as movie screenings and regular socials . As well as this , we offer writing workshops and have had some fantastic guest speakers . We have a vibrant community of members with interests ranging from OMR ( Old , Medieval and Renaissance lit ) to modern classics and we think that you ’ ll find we have something to offer everyone ! As well as our monthly and weekly events , last year we published an extremely successful literary journal , Quarryman . For anyone who is interested in either having their work published
or getting involved with the publishing process behind the scenes , English Soc is for you ! UCC English Soc is open to any suggestions from students and is happy to support members in all their endeavours ! This year , several members organised ‘ Inkwell ’, an OMR symposium , which was a huge success . We also ventured over to London as a group to celebrate Shakespeare 400 and of course enjoy all of the literary history London has to offer . E & S
E & S host a vast range of entrepreneurial events every year , including motivational speeches from some of Ireland ’ s leading entrepreneurs . The society gives all students the chance to start their own business while still being in college through events such as the Startup School , Startup Weekend and Entrepreneur of the Year . The E & S social events have a reputation for being the biggest and best on campus ! We have an exciting line up planned for the year ahead , with some brand new events in the pipeline ! Our annual calendar includes E & S Christmas Day , Iron Stomach competition and the renowned European Winter Break . Our main goal is to promote and support entrepreneurship on campus and have lots of fun along the way . The E & S society is for anyone and everyone , regardless of what you ’ re studying in UCC . Being part of the society gives you access to high profile figures in Irish business , you will learn life long skills , make a tonne of friends and you ’ ll have a laugh at some of our many famous social events .
