ART
UCC Art Society gives you the opportunity to continue to
develop your artistic skills throughout your college years,
in a fun, lighthearted and informal setting. We draw, A
LOT! Every year UCC Art Society is unique. Amazing
people, exciting events and fantastic art, help to make
ours one of the best societies to gain new experiences
and lasting friendships. We love meeting new people,
seeing new faces, learning new techniques, and trying
new things.

Every year we are amazed at how many passionate
artists there are in our very own UCC. Painters and
drawers, illustrators and designers, sketchers and
scrawlers we have them all!
Being an open and welcoming society is our most
important policy. No matter who you are or what level of
skill you have, we hope to see you join us with a pencil
in hand this year!

BIOLOGY
Welcome to UCC! Biosoc represents one of the broadest demographics
in the university, covering everything from Anatomy to Zoology, and
we carry out an equally broad range of activities, ranging from
Miracle Berry selling (look up “UCC Biology Society presents - “Taste
Tripping!”” on Youtube!) to a comedy roast of the students union
candidates for charity. The formal objectives of the Biology society
are: Give members the opportunity to discuss and develop their
understanding of the various sub-disciplines of the biological sciences.
Promote unbiased awareness of issues related to the biological
sciences by means of debate and awareness programs. Advocate
opinions representative of those of the student body in relation to

the aforementioned issues where possible. Raise awareness and
generate funding for charitable causes related to the biological
sciences. Last year we worked with the Irish Heart Foundation. And
of course, in between saving the planet and engaging in thorough
scholarly debate we typically find some time for an eh, *occasional*
night out. We often collaborate with other societies in our event
planning, working with societies both in the UCC and others. As
a young society we are still very much in our formative years, and
are looking for fresh perspectives and ideas from incoming students.
Hopefully we’ll see you at our welcome evening, and can look
forward to your own input throughout your years in UCC.
