REBEKAH CHILDREN’S SERVICES On April 8, 2017, Rebekah Children’s Services (RCS) dedicated the refurbished library to Eleanor Villarreal. On the dedication plaque Eleanor is described as “an individual so passionate and dedicated to her community and its philanthropic interests, that she becomes the community embodiment of hope, happiness and well-being.” Eleanor has spent her entire professional life in Gilroy…a life dedicated to service and involvement. The list of Eleanor’s accomplishments is long. She held a variety of positions at RCS for twenty years, during which time she guided RCS through an era of community outreach and involvement. Eleanor has also been involved with the Hispanic Chamber of C ommerce, the South County Democratic Club, the Sunrise Rotary Club, the Latino Family Fund, the Exchange Club, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Gilroy Garlic Festival. Eleanor Villarreal has received numerous awards and recognitions. In March 2002, Assembly Member Simon Salinas honored Eleanor as Woman of the Year for the 28th Assembly District. She was the Gilroy Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year 1995, Santa Clara County Woman of Achievement, and the National Society of Fundraising Executives’ Outstanding Fundraiser. Congratulations to Eleanor for being a passionate and dedicated member of the Gilroy community.
