Letter from Editor-in-Chief
Many years ago , I dreamed about creating an integrated design company . It was obvious to me that design should be seamless , that the disciplines of architecture and interior design should be continuous and uninterrupted efforts . In 1985 , I formed a company with two architects in Montreal . In what I believe was the only fully integrated company in the area , we designed and built luxury residential projects and created some really stunning work . Our business included a full kitchen and bath showroom which became , in relation to our partnership , my “ baby .” And I fell in love with my baby . It was a natural emotion for me as I grew up in and around my parents ’ kitchen and bath business in Fort Myers . Upon my return to my native Southwest Florida in 1993 , I searched for the same type of integrated services we had provided in Montreal . There was nothing .
K2 Design was born in 1994 with a clear mandate . Some might call it a one-stop shop . That ’ s a lightweight moniker for the real work that goes on . I know from so many years of experience that it takes extreme tenacity to design and execute a full project from “ dirt to drapes ,” a term I coined to try to explain the broad spectrum of our services . We ’ ve done it all : site planning , architecture , interior architecture , lighting design , interior design , kitchen and bath design , procurement and construction management .
Yet , one very important piece of the puzzle was missing … but not anymore ! In 2016 , we created K2 Kitchens as a full kitchen and bath interior design showroom . Our displays are fully designed and equipped with ideas galore . Your personal tour of the showroom will include the most exciting collection of cabinetry , counters , lighting , tiles and flooring in all of Southwest Florida , presented to you by the region ’ s very best design talent .
