Volunteers’ Favourite Insights & Moments:
Abi: “The last day, seeing how much of a difference we made to
people’s lives. Hearing their thanks, seeing the emotion from the lady
who got the 101st home and seeing how much joy there was from the
children at the orphanage.”
Daniel: “The Party the Las Laderas Community organised for us upon
completion of the project. After Rosa & myself said a few words, Ben
invited any of the house recipient families to come forward & share
anything they wanted to say. Soon a line of people formed & although I
didn’t understand their Spanish, the emotion on their faces (some
smiled, many cried) & the eye contact I held with them was a deep &
profound experience for me.”
Josephine: “The ceremony on the last day when we got to see the sportive impact on the community
of us building the houses and making the connections that we have made.”
James: “Completing the 1st house and seeing the genuine happiness, emotion & tears of joy in the
mother and daughters’ face”
Greg: “The love from all the kids in Project Peru, so beautiful especially given the extremely hard
start to life they have had.”
Ellie: “The last day of building when the Las Laderas community put on a little thank you party for
us. Hearing the stories from the people who have received houses over the years was amazing.”
