Lottazay has been steadily battling — more than most — and in the battle world, seems to have his name mentioned almost as much as Chilla Jones. His amazing lyrical versatility makes him tough to write for — let alone outdo. After this interview, I realized he has a work ethic unlike most and rivaled by few. Here are the results. Majin: OK, let’s talk about this new musical project. Lottazay: It’s called “Elevation” and it really gets you into the mindset and dimension that I’m in all of the time; but it’s really a message to people that whatever you’re into, walk of life you’re taking, lifestyle, or lane you’re in — just elevate. Take yourself to a new level. Break the mold or stigma that you may be facing. Break the mold, stand out and let your every word be a statement. If you have an open mind and ear for music, you will enjoy this album and play it front to back —ly and most likely — keep it in rotation. I’ve been working on this project a while now. I’ve been molding for over a year, just holding on to [songs] and coming back to them to add new pieces. I’m real indecisive and particular about my work and really mindful of the public opinion, so I like to take my time with my material. It took a lot for me to pick the songs that I picked, because all of it is fire, but the lane that I’m in may be too different for people to get it now. I have to walk them into my creativity with something they’d understand better. After all the music was picked for “Elevation”, I went through the remaining songs and put together thre more projects and enough songs to contribute to the soon to be released group collaboration “The ABBO Mixtape”, with the whole crew on it. Majin: Has this project interfered with your battling or is there a balance? Lottazay: The project didn’t take away from my battling — the battling took away from what should be most important to that majority of us artists in this battle industry — and that’s to get to ѡ
