Lottazay has been steadily battling
— more than most — and in the
battle world, seems to have his name
mentioned almost as much as Chilla
Jones. His amazing lyrical versatility
makes him tough to write for — let
alone outdo. After this interview, I
realized he has a work ethic unlike
most and rivaled by few. Here are
the results.
Majin: OK, let’s talk about this
new musical project.
Lottazay: It’s called “Elevation”
and it really gets you into the
mindset and dimension that I’m
in all of the time; but it’s really a
message to people that whatever
you’re into, walk of life you’re

stigma that you may be facing.
Break the mold, stand out and let
your every word be a statement.

on this project a while now. I’ve
been molding for over a year, just
holding on to [songs] and coming
back to them to add new pieces.
I’m real indecisive and particular
about my work and really mindful
of the public opinion, so I like to
take my time with my material.
It took a lot for me to pick the
songs that I picked, because all of
it is fire, but the lane that I’m in
may be too different for people to
get it now. I have to walk them
into my creativity with something
they’d understand better. After
all the music was picked for
“Elevation”, I went through the
remaining songs and put together
thre more projects and enough
songs to contribute to the soon
to be released group collaboration
“The ABBO Mixtape”, with the
whole crew on it.
Majin: Has this project interfered
with your battling or is there a
balance?
Lottazay: The project didn’t take
away from my battling — the
battling took away from what
should be most important to that
majority of us artists in this battle
industry — and that’s to get to
