Shooney Da Rapper showed up on the battle scene at Queen of The Ring on March 19, 2011. From that very moment, she has displayed that she can hold her own in the ring as well as her own personal sense of fashion. Shooney has battled Norma Bayts, Phara, Tori Doe and Don Ladii — alongside Phara in a two-on-two, Matrimony, Vixxen The Assassin, Bonnie Godiva, Queen Vixen and Ah Di Boom — via radio. Shooney has the dimples, the bars and the look; let’s see what she has on her mind. The Hurricane Du: You are considered a vet in this battle rap game.Do you feel like you are getting the respect and accolades that you deserve? Shooney: I feel I am a vet that doesn’t get the same respect as the girls that I started with. I come from the same class as: Jaz, Hart, Norma, Chayna, Dutchess — the original QOTR girls. I was a part of Queen of The Ring from the first time we used the ring, but because I choose not to battle every card, some may feel that I’m not worthy, but to me it’s not quantity. It’s quality and I feel I have put in work. The Hurricane Du: What are your future plans in the industry? Are you sticking with battle rap only? Shooney: My future plans involve me continuing to brand Shooney; more music, fashion, hosting, getting back into radio — things I do best. The Hurricane Du: OK, this next one is a three-part question; you take a lot of risks with fashion that I think are great. Can u tell me a little about your sense of style? What are some of your do’s and dont’s? What are some of your pet peeves with other girls’ fashion sense? Shooney: My sense of style is best described as: fun, flashy, girly and colorful. Some Do List: do come comfortable, do what works for you, do remember these videos last forever once they are posted; so if you are dressed like someone’s drunk mother, thats all we will see. (Shooney laughs) Don’t List: don’t wear heels in the ring if you can’t walk in them, if you look pregnant, don’t wear a half shirt, don’t wear any shade of gray you will sweat and look nasty in and last don’t wear tights if you don’t have ass. The Hurricane Du: What are your predictions for N.H.B.? Shooney: “QB vs. PharaFuneral”: Phara 2-1. “40 B.A.R.R.S vs. Jaz”: Jaz 2-1. “E Hart vs Gattas”: Debatable. “O’ffical vs. Couture”: O’fficial 3-0; no bodybag. “Bonnie Godive vs. Ms. Fit”: Fit 2-1. “C3 shooney da rapper MURDER SHE SPOKE vs. Tori Doe”: Debatable. The Hurricane Du: When do you plan on getting back in the ring? Who do you want to battle the most? Shooney: I should be on the next card. I want to battle Star Smiles, she’s due for a casket. The Hurricane Du: Do you respect all of your peers or are there some with tactics or behavior your disapprove of? Shooney: I respect them all; to each his own, but I will say that I’m looking forward to the day Couture battles without props. The Hurricane Du: What male opponent would you like to battle? Shooney: I battled Ah Di Boom before. [I] killed him. (Shooney laughs) But I would love to battle my favorite male battler, Shotgun Suge. The Hurricane Du: Do you feel like there is a need for more female leagues? Shooney: Nah. I don’t feel the need for more female leagues, because as of late, us girls are getting booked on male dominated cards. The Hurricane Du: What do you have against “black b***hes”? Is this comedic or do they really irk you? 33
