The KRH are based at Tidworth Garrison, Wiltshire and were formed from an amalgamation of The Royal Hussars and the 14th/20th Hussars. The regiment can trace its ancestry back to 1715.
During 2014 the regiment took on the role of lead armoured battlegroup and rotated all of its squadrons through Exercise Prarie Storm - BATUS, Canada, during the course of the year. At the
end of 2014 KRH was
again deployed to Poland for 'Black Eagle',
on a multi-national battle
group excercise. 2016
Will see the KRH hand
over lead armoured
battlegroup to the Royal Tank Regiment.
Recognised as the oldest tank unit in the world, the Royal Tank Regiment is co-located at Tidworth with the KRH. Formed into the Tank Corps from the Heavy Section of the Machine Gun Corps during 1917, it didn't recieve its current title until 4 April 1939 as part of the newly established Royal Armoured Corps.
2014 was a busy year for the RTR as it saw the regiment formerly amalgamated from 2 regiments into one.
Consolidating on this,

establishing itself as the

2015 will see RTR training at
BATUS, Canada ready to take
over from KRH.
