The Royal Wessex Yeomanry

All units in the Army Resereve are usually affiliated with a number of

units in the regular forces. This is to improve opportunities for integration

and training; as well as historical links.

Currently the regiment is linked to 3 Regular Armoured Regiments and 2

Royal Naval Warships.

The fastest of the thirteen frigates of its type and the eighth to bear the name Portland. The ship has a compliment of 185 crew and the ability to project its influence over great distances, through a combination of its range of 7,500 nautical miles, missiles, torpedoes, 4.5 inch gun and Lynx Mk.8 Helecopter.

2014 was a busy year for the crew having been on a 7 month Atlantic Patrol.

After visiting a number of

African Nations and the

Falkland Islands, and also

celebrating the ships 13th

Birthday, the crew have

now returned to the UK.

HMS Enterprise is one of two multi-role survey vessels in the Royal Navy, the other being her sister ship HMS Echo.

These two ships are the first in the Royal Navy to be fitted with azimuth thrusters, which allow both a high level of manoeuvrability. The ship accommodates a crew of72 and is operationally available 330 days of the year.

After finishing maintenance, trials and training early in 2014, Enterprise returned to operations and, in August, took part in evacuating

Britons from Libya and

also began an 18 month

Scientific mission. So far

2015 has seen her in port

in Goa Province, India.
