Letter from the Editor

BPCNewsletter/Spring 2016 1

In this special edition of the Biomedical Postdoctoral Council (BPC) Newsletter, we focus in depth on topics of key importance to postdoctoral fellows, from career paths to childcare. Postdocs from Penn's Perelman School of Medicine and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) who represented us at the recent National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) Annual Meeting bring us the inside details on postdoc issues and policy at the national level. We delve into childcare, a challenge that affects many postdocs, and explore the potential of postdoc unions. Finally, we spoke with Dean of the Perelman School of Medicine, Dr. Larry Jameson, to hear his thoughts on the current state and the future of postdoc training.

We hope that the ideas and resources that we present are helpful to the postdoctoral community at Penn. And if you would like to get involved, contact the BPC at [email protected].
