why does poverty and hunger exist in canada?

Hunger exists because of poverty. In Canada and anywhere in the world these two problems coincide with each other. If you have one you probably have the other. Hunger and poverty exist in Canada because even though Canada is a developed country, some people are still living in 3rd world conditions. Another reason why poverty and hunger exists is because of the food prices in some of the provinces and territories.

For example if you live in Canada’s north the food price for a bag of apples is $6.70 and for most of Canada the price is $3.71. The price difference is huge. For a family trying to stay healthy in the north they would have to pay a lot more than us. And if they don’t have enough money to buy just basic food items, they’ll end up hungry and starving. As well as all the other provinces. Lack of jobs, lack of money, turns out to be the top reason why people are turning to food banks.
