you’re teaching me your way That you’ll do just what you say, in Your time. Though decades old, those simple words still are still deeply relevant and true in my life today. Each week, after service, we now have a new meeting for what has been dubbed [A3] Young Adults – and it has truly been a breath of fresh air for me. Not just because of the honest and open (and at times very animated) conversations that we have about the sermon/passage while huddled behind a makeshift curtain over soup, and communal plates of rice and kimchi. But because each person there has been a reminder that God is the maker of all things beautiful…and most importantly, that He does it in His time. Over the past few years especially, but definitely for much longer prior to, we as a community have struggled to create a space for young adults for various, often very legitimate, reasons. Through EM Council meetings and many side conversations, this need was discussed and rediscussed, often I thought, fruitlessly. But in each step of simple obedience, God showed me that He was on time and did so most clearly with the people He brought in. God moves slowly, albeit this is but a meager measurement of our timeless God! Though coming from different places in our walk of faith, God is drawing our hearts together with the same underlying question posed different ways, using different words, “What does God’s redemption story look like in my life?” To be sure, A3 is still in somewhat of a nascent stage. And the discussions at times are tough because many of us are coming each week with years of unresolved hurt: from the seemingly irreconcilable events of the past, from years of avoiding a flavor of Christianity imbued from our parents, from our seeming inability to break free from the hazards of busy worklife schedule… And yet each week after our A3 Young Adult meeting, those few simple words and the even simpler melody, I find myself humming as I cross the street to my car, “He makes all things beautiful, in His time.” This simplest act of worship at once a praise of thanksgiving for all He has done to bring us together… and a solemn prayer for our eyes to see all that is yet to come. Beginning with the intimate guys Bible study on Tuesdays and girls Bible study on Thursdays in our apartments or over tacos at Flying Burrito, God moved in our hearts; of course, it was in different people and in different ways than I expected. When we finally committed to meeting each Sunday after service, again, God brought different individuals with distinct stories of His timing. Some of us haven’t been to church in a while, while some others of us were too “busy” in church… Others of us are just now dipping our toes in Christian community. In each case, God’s providence was evident and much like the life of Moses which we studied together, God moves. Also as in the life of Moses, at times www.fkbc.org 랄리제일한인침례교회 35
